Professional Profile
Jason Gersting is a partner in the Orange County office. He focuses on patent and trademark prosecution and strategic intellectual property portfolio management in the biotechnology and life science industries.
Dr. Gersting’s practice includes patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property due diligence, counseling on licensing, infringement and validity issues, and strategic management of patent and other intellectual property assets. He currently represents clients in a wide range of technology areas, including stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine, biotechnology, medical devices, aesthetics and personal care products, and nutraceuticals. He also represents foreign associates in procuring U.S. patent protection for their clients in biotechnology and life sciences.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Gersting earned his Ph.D. and J.D. from the University of Florida, where his research focused on role of fetal neuroendocrine signaling and prostaglandins in the initiation of labor and delivery at the conclusion of pregnancy. Before law school, Dr. Gersting worked as a research scientist in a laboratory focused on non-traditional roles of hematopoietic growth factors on the developing fetal gastrointestinal tract. He also earned his master’s degree by developing methods to analyze differential expression of calcium channels in response to disease or injury.
Dr. Gersting joined the firm in 2008.
