Professional Profile
Andrew H. Simpson is a partner in our Orange County office and has more than 35 years of experience in intellectual property law.
His practice involves all aspects of intellectual property protection and enforcement, including patent and trademark prosecution and litigation. He has extensive experience in the strategic planning and management of global lP portfolios. He has advised clients on contentious matters in many countries, including patent and trademark litigation, trademark piracy, anti-counterfeiting and trademark and patent oppositions. He is active in oppositions and appeals in the European Patent Office and regularly attends hearings there.
Mr. Simpson represents clients in a broad spectrum of industries, including agriculture, chemical, fashion and jewelry, food and beverage, healthcare, medical device, retail, and sporting goods.
Mr. Simpson is experienced in the planning and conduct of multi-national litigation, including patent litigation in Europe, and travels extensively to work in close cooperation with local counsel in trials and hearings, particularly in the courts of Germany.
He advises clients on IP due diligence and on patent and trademark licensing, as well as other agreements involving IP, such as distribution, development and joint venture agreements.
Mr. Simpson also has extensive experience in the protection, enforcement and commercialization of plant variety rights.
Mr. Simpson joined the firm in 1981 and became a partner in 1992.
